Some technical info for owners.

Adjusting Pickup Height

- 2 or 3 Screw Pickups

These pickups have the screws captive in the pickup. So you simply turn the screw to raise or lower the pickup. Clockwise lowers, CCW raises. Turn each screw a little at a time, especially if there are two at one end of the pup, to keep them even. Otherwise the pup will get cocked at an angle and the screws will tend to jam. But you have enough flexability to have the two ends at different heights.

- 4 Screw Pickups

4 Screw pickups are held in a little differently. Two of the screws are on top holding the pickup down. The other two are under the pickup holding it up. They are all righthand threads. So if you want to lower the pickup, you first need to lower the hidden screws with a thin phillips screwdriver through the screw holes. Then lower the visible screws to clamp it down. To raise the pickup, first loosen the screws on top, then raise (CCW) the hidden screws through the holes until the pickup is held in place.

Trussrod Adjustment

Like all trussrods, tightening the rods (clockwise) increases the resistance against the strings. With two trussrods, it's important to keep about the tension on both rods. So when adjusting the neck turn both rods the same amount. You can also get a feel for how equal the tension is by how hard it is to tighten them. So if one is hard to turn and the other is loose, that should tell you something.

Bridge Height

Just turn the screws at each end. Clockwise is down, CCW is up. The two ends can be adjusted to slightly different heights if desired. The saddles are designed to match the curve of the fingerboard and are not adjustable.

Fingerboard Care

Ebony fingerboards require very little care. But it is good to keep a little oil in the wood to avoid possible cracking. It's recommended that once a year you take your strings off and wipe the fingerboard down with Lemon essential oil. This is refined oil from lemon skins. It will soak into the wood and also help clean any dirt and finger oils from the fingerboard. After letting it soak in for a few minutes, wipe off any excess, then put your old strings back on. After you play it for a couple days take the old strings off, wipe it again with a dry rag, then put a new set of strings on.
